Will a high pitch sound deterrent machine work against opossums?
There is a theory behind the pest control equipment companies which say that ultra sound emission can be effective
when it comes to repel the insect pests or the animals. The theory says that any device that can make the pulses of
sound using high frequency which is above the human hearing, it can make the pests to go away. The pests are not able
to tolerate the sound and they will lose the capacity of communicating within themselves. Like any other consumer products,
the companies will do anything they can in order to market such items. The ultrasonic sound emitters are now marketed for
anything from the dogs, cats and mice.
However, the wildlife experts, biologists and the government have found out that these devices do not anytime to contribute
to the change of the behavior of these animals and in short, they are just gimmick.
Before you decide to use these items, you have to know that they are based only on the theories and they
have not been proven by anyone. When they are used to different animals, they do not show in any way that
they alter the behavior of the animal even when the devices are used with a high level of frequency. Many
animals will only investigate where the sound comes from and they will ignore it.
The high pitch sound had always been known to scare the animals away and this may include the opossums but
the opossums do not seem to care since they just pretend as if they are dead. The high pitch sound devices
cannot lead to fear even for some animals like wolves and lion. If you want to get rid of the opossum, you
have to use natural home remedies and to make the traps in the way of repelling the opossums.
The easiest and the safest way to get rid of the opossum is when you trap them. You can find different traps at
the market; you can set them so that they may enter into the trap. The tomatoes, banana or other fruits may be the perfect bait to use.
