Will a high pitch sound deterrent machine work against opossums?

There is a theory behind the pest control equipment companies which say that ultra sound emission can be effective when it comes to repel the insect pests or the animals. The theory says that any device that can make the pulses of sound using high frequency which is above the human hearing, it can make the pests to go away.
